Both devices work on my PC, also running Windows 7. The external device interface with the HDD is not being identified correctly. Check the device manufacturers support for compatibility with Vista and any drivers for Vista that may be available. Try those. You may also want to send a note to their support and ask if they will provide Win 7 support for the device.
